The Songahm Spirit of Taekwondo Oath

A promise each student makes at the beginning and end of each ATA event to prepare them for what lies ahead.

ATA Tigers Oath

Recited at the beginning and end of every class:
“Sir/Ma'am, To be a good person (right hand up, reinforced with the left); With knowledge in the mind (hand points to head); Honesty in the heart (hand over the heart); Strength in my body (both arms bend to make muscles); To make good friends (right hand out for hand shake, reinforced by left); and to get my black belt (using both hands to lift belt), Sir/Ma'am.”

Karate for Kids Oath

Recited at the beginning and end of every class:
“Sir/Ma'am, Each day I will live by honoring my parents and instructors, practicing to the best of my abilities, and having courtesy and respect for everyone I meet, Sir/Ma'am!”

Teen and Adult Oath

Recited at the beginning of every class:
“Sir/Ma'am, I will practice in the spirit of Taekwondo; with courtesy for fellow students, loyalty for my instructor and respect for my juniors and seniors, Sir/Ma'am.”

Recited at the end of every class:
“Sir/Ma'am, I shall live with perseverance in the spirit of Taekwondo; having honor with others, integrity within myself and self control in my actions, Sir/Ma'am.”
